Whiteboard animation is a great way to communicate ideas or processes. I used to make these the traditional way, drawing on a large sheet of paper under an overhead camera, but this is a cumbersome process and very hard on the back! Also the end product is very hard to make alterations to. It's infinitely preferable to do it digitally, sitting at a comfortable desk, where changes can be made far more easily. Also, this method makes is simple to combine the time-lapse artwork with animation (show here with a few simple loops) which helps bring the whole thing to life. Compared to full animation these films are quick and economical to produce, and from my point of view are a great way to experiment with a variety of different styles.
