I'm a freelance animator and animation director specialising in cartoon/character and illustrative animation in a variety of styles.

 

I’ve been working as an independent animator since 1998. I began my professional career with “Roobarb and Custard” creator Bob Godfrey, and went on to work on various TV and film productions both for kids (“Yoko Jakamoko Toto”, “The Secret Show”, “Horrible Histories” , “The Moshi Monsters Movie”, "Claude") and adults (“Monkey Dust”, “Modern Toss”, “2DTV”). Recent work includes a spell as animation director and storyboard artist for the CBEEBIES series "Nick Cope's Popcast", for Bath-based studio Complete Control. 
 

I now spend most of my time creating short films for business clients, such as corporate presentations, whiteboard animations, advertising and charity promotions. My work includes projects for Unilever, AQA, PricewaterhouseCooper, Blackrock, GlaxoSmithKline, Novartis, Nissan and Audi, and a TV commercial for Irn Bru which was nominated for a Brtitish Animation Award. 
 

Although I always enjoy working on narrative cartoon-type material, I feel there is a great deal of untapped potential in animation as a tool for communication and education and I’m always looking for opportunities to explore this. 

After many years based in London I now work from home in rural Northumberland - but close enough to the main line railway that I can easily get to London or Edinburgh or anywhere in between for meetings if necessary, and still get back home the same day!
