Several years ago I applied for a job in Brighton creating GIFs for mobile phones. This was before everyone had smartphones and it was cool to have a GIF on your phone screen. They wanted me to create a spooky-themed GIF as a test. Being very old-school, I actually did the animation on paper then scanned it into Photoshop to colour it. When I visited the studio, it was full of youngsters making scary-themed GIFS by simply doing things like importing images of ghostly houses and adding a bolt of lightning effect, that sort of thing. Not a drawing in sight. To be honest I though this was, like, way better than any of their stuff, but I didn't get the job!
